Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a mental disorder characterized by obsession, in which intrusive thoughts or images that cause anxiety and stress are repeated, and by compulsion, in which behaviors aimed at reducing such anxiety are repeated.
In this paper, drug treatment for OCD is described based on randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and open-label trials listed in PubMed (www.pubmed.gov; US National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health). In addition, we will summarize recent challenges in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder.
