As Noble laureate Mother Teresa once observed “we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other,” we need to cultivate values of forgiveness, reconciliation and a sense of interrelatedness if we want to restore peace in our present world―torn by conflicts and battles. And the best way to do so is to turn to religious resources which humans have inherited from one generation to the other. This article is one such endeavor which explores the ways in which Hindu religious universe contributes to the process of forgiveness and reconciliation among the humans modeling after God's readiness to forgive the sinful human beings. In the process of asking human beings to seek forgiveness from God, the Hindu religious literature fosters a harmonious relationship between God and the humans, the humans and the nature, and among humans themselves. Thus this article contributes towards the promotion of peace in the minds of humans beings, keeping line with the constitution of UNESCO which states “since wars begin in the minds of men, it is in the minds of men that the defenses of peace must be constructed.”
