The legend of King Arthur and his knights of the round table is one of greatest legacy of medieval European culture and literature, and the story of the quest for the Holy Grail possesses enormous part of it. Since Chrétien de troyes first introduce the concept of the grail with Percival, a knight with an unfamiliar character, The story of Holy Grail became very popular literal element in Christian societies. The story has kept given inspirations to many artists including such great names as Wagner, T.S. Elliot and William Shakespeare. In modern days, some of famous movie directors like John Boorman, Terry Gilliam, Robert Blesson and George Lucas took the legend as a subject for their films. Ridley Scott, the British born film director, has been focused on this theme for his whole filmography. Actually he planned to make the tristan and isolde story, which is part of the King Arthur legend, for his first work in the major movie industry of Hollywood. In his 2012 Sci-fi thriller Prometheus, Ridley Scott recomposed the story of Holy Grail quest in a view of modern timer with great visual effects. In this paper, I will discuss on similarities and differences between the film's plot and the original legend. And I also try to figure what is the main theme and religious insistence of his movie.
