The Hong Kong movies which had its high time in 1970s and 1980s have been experienced the political and economical obstacles after returning Hong Kong to China in 1987. The movie stars and directors from Hong Kong had joined to the Chinese style blockbuster production or presented to the Hollywood movie through moving into China. But the directors from Hong Kong who had produced movies with Chinese capital did not express what they wanted to emphasize via movie in the midst of dual presses of the censoring and ideology. In addition, the actors in high time of Hong Kong movie became the tools for the modern style propaganda regulating (A movie which makes propaganda for the ideology of the government or nation) which provides the unique ideology to China which has developed in high speed after innovation and opening its market. In such circumstances, the nature of amusement, stories of the floating youngs who represent Hong Kong and the idealogical diversity which were to be seen in the past time Hong Kong movies had been disappeared. However, there is a trend of trying to revive the Hong Kong movie in past times in the midst of many obstacles after returning to China. The movies and movie people who discuss the lives and identity of Hong Kong people exist still. There is a class who produces the movie which drives to the serious thinking on the reality and history by attacking the niche of the joint production between Hong Kong and China. In addition, the stream of Hong Kong movie will not be disconnected owing to the effort of Hong Kong movie industry which supports the new media movies.
