]This paper intends to make a brief review and introduction to the situation of European history studies in China from the middle 19th century to nowadays. Its first part reviews the initial stage of Chinese studies to the European history from the Opium War in 1840 to the establishment of the Peoples Republic of China in 1949, the second part introducts the formation of the modern studies in this field before the 1980s in the new China, and the third part sumarizes its current situation and trends in recent years. The paper is based on a speech draft which prepared to present in the Korean Association for Western History Studies, therefore, it can only provide a general epitome to the long history, changing trends and famous scholars in this research field in China.(Institute of European Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences/tiandw@cass.org.cn)
