Background: Interlaminar and transforaminal epidural blocks are effective in treating disc-herniated radiculopathy. In some studies, transforaminal epidural block was more effective than interlaminar epidural block. The aim of this study was to compare interlaminar epidural block with that of transforaminal epidural block in treating disc-herniated radiculopathy. Methods: Eighty patients, who complained of disc-herniated radiculopathy, were randomly divided into two groups. One group was administered interlaminar (n = 40), the other transforaminal (n = 40) epidural block. All the procedures were performed under C-arm guidance. A numerical rating scale (NRS) and patient satisfaction scores were recorded before and 30 days after the procedure. Results: Reduced NRS and high patient satisfaction scores were noted in both groups, but no difference was noted between the two groups. Conclusions: Both interlaminar and transforaminal epidural blocks were effective in treating disc-herniated radiculopathy, but no difference in effect between the two procedures under C-arm guidance was noted.
