Thermography is a method of detecting physical problems by measuring invisible infrared rays radiating from the human body. Changes in temperature, due to superficial blood flow, detect painful or diseased regions, which can be visualized by a computer. Because this device is noninvasive, painless and harmless, it can be used in pregnant women and children. It can also be used safely on patients who are allergic to the drugs used in radiological diagnosis or those that have suffered chronic pain from invasive diagnostic procedures. The early diagnosis of neuropathic, myofascial, circulatory, skeletal or psychogenic pain syndrome, which is was difficult from a physical examination, the clinical symptom, a CT scan, MRI and EMG, can be made by thermography. Therefore, thermography is a very useful method for indicating objective indices in the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases.
