A new soybean variety, “Daol” was developed at the National Yeongnam Agricultural Experiment Station in 2002. It was selected from the cross Keunol//Josaengbaekjo/Keunol. The preliminary, advanced, and regional yield trials for evaluation and selection of this variety were carried out from 1998 to 2002. It has determinate growth habit, white flower, brown pubescence, yellow seed coat, light brown hilum, oval leaflet shape, globular seed shape, and large seed size (33.6 grams per 100 seed), and that was the late maturity than check variety “Keunol”. “Daol” has a good quality and high yield for tofu. It has high protein content in seeds (40.7%). It also has been identified to have fairly good resistance to soybean mosaic virus (SMV) and necrotic symptom of SMV (SMV-N), which are the troublesome soybean diseases. The average yield of “Daol” was 2.21 ton per hectare in the regional yield trials carried out in three locations of Korea from 2000 to 2002, which was 3 percents more than the check variety “Keunol”.
