The purpose of this study was to analyze the impact of college students' motivation for selecting major on perceived suitability and employment preparation behavior. Based on literature review, motivation was divided into two factors: individual and social motivation. Perceived suitability was divided into two main components: individual-school and individual- major suitability. Data were collected from college students specializing in airline service management, and a total of 360 questionnaires were used for hypotheses tests. As findings, individual motivation had significant effects on both individual-school and individual- major suitability. However, social motivation had a significant impact on only individual- school suitability. The motivation for the selection of major and perceived suitability had positive effects on employment preparation behavior. Based on findings, it is suggested to actively develop/utilize programs that could increase students' understanding and suitability of major. Also, it would be needed to provide diverse supports in the level of department and school, to maintain the motivation for the selection of major.
