This paper aims to analyze the limits of IS Sunnite radicalism and its correlations with sectarianism and factionalism in the Middle East. For this purpose, this paper presented four important topics, the process of IS’s acceptance of Salafism and Wahhabism, the process of IS’s application of sectarianism and factionalism, the limit of IS’s application of sectarianism and factionalism, and the limit of IS’s schemes for establishing legitimacy of IS’s ideology. IS’s factionalism and takfirism have not been widely accepted and are therefore regarded as limitations. To overcome these limits, IS has designed many kinds of Jihad, and recently focused on a narrative jihad. IS cited many stories from early Islamic history to justify its terror tactics. However, this method has also failed and is now a limitation to IS’s influence.
