This study surveyed their preference for types of robots by residents’ characteristics and their demand for the space of Robots. Based on the characteristics of residents, the robot types preferred were classified and the demand for space of robots in the house was analyzed. In addition, this study attempted to draw implications in connection with the design work in the robot space development by analyzing preffered locations of space for robots.
The survey found that first, the preferred types of home robots by resident characteristics were different. For example, the demand for social robots for first-person households, education robots for childcare and health care robots for elder households was the biggest. Second, the higher the level of understanding of electronic devices and smart homes, the higher the need for robots and the demand for space for robots. Finally, based on a survey of preferred locations for space for robots in the house, the demand for living rooms is the highest, which can be attributed to considering the robot"s movement.
