This study uses Teshima, the Setouchi Triennale as a research example, to clarify the effects of the art festival in Teshima, and to clarify the effect of the art festival in the regional revitalization of Teshima. Although Teshima is a depopulated, it can be said that holding an art festival has been effective in revitalizing the island. The effects of art festivals in Teshima include an increase in visitors, economic benefits, and an increase in migrants. It can be said that the art festival has contributed to the regional revitalization of Teshima, but at the same time, it can be seen that the problems caused by the art festival and the creation of tourist destinations by art works have become issues for the future. It is true that art festivals contribute to regional revitalization, but there are limits to the overall resolution of the island"s regional issues and the improvement of the settlement environment. It is considered necessary to create a synergy effect by properly harmonizing the island promotion measures. The value of this study is that it has clarified the effect of the art festival in Teshima, and that it has clarified the part that the art festival can contribute to solving regional issues and revitalizing the region.
