초록·키워드
AENM is a connectionist model of polysemy with the basic notion that metonymy is a primary source of meaning extension. Based on its mechanism, AENM suggests that providing visual aids illustrating accompanied experiences motivating an extension of a word meaning facilitates the learning of its extended meaning in L2 contexts. To verify this assumption, this study employed PsychoPy3 software to keep track of a threefold experiment that evaluates learners’ improvements in knowledge, processing speed, and self-efficacy. The significant improvements of the VA(Visual Aids) group in the posttest seem to indicate that instructional treatment indeed facilitates the learning of the polysemous verbs for KFL students. The comparison of mean reaction time and self-efficacy of the VA and NVA groups as well shows that AENM-based visual aids are helpful for learning L2 polysemous verbs. Converging evidence from the threefold experimental domains confirms that using AENM-based visual aids is an effective way to facillitate learning polysemous verbs in L2 learning contexts.
