This study aims to investigate the characteristics of particular matter generation factors in office settings by analyzing the characteristics of particular matter generation according to the hourly usage of office equipment and the equipment usage pattern. The experiment was conducted from November 10th at NLandscape Office; inkjet printer and document shredder were selected for analysis among particular matter-generating factors in the office. In order to control the experiment environment, A particular matter indicator (SIBATA’s LD_5KR) was used to measure particular matter. Measurements were performed 10 times for each equipment, and the minimum, maximum, and average values were calculated. Also, changes of particular matter measurement values according to usage pattern for each equipment were examined during the measurement. According to the results, inkjet printers basically generated fine dust when there was an action, and a higher number ‘when collecting printed materials’ occurred than ‘paper jam’. As the usage behavior occurred and the frequency of occurrence increased, the total amount of particular matter increased. This was the same in the case of document shredders. The result of this study is expected to be the basic data for establishing the standards and guidelines that can help to reduce the particular matter in the office by analyzing the usage pattern of the office equipment.
