Floating offshore wind power generation systems are large structures floating on the sea, which are sensitive to the influences of external environmental conditions such as waves, winds, tides, and water depths. Since the overall behavior of these systems are larger compared to fixed ones, designs to minimize the behavior are the core of these systems. In order to control the behavior of the floating body at the level of precision required for fixed offshore wind power generation systems, very strict design technology for the mooring facilities of the floating structure is required. Accordingly, cutting-edge technologies for the development of the floating body and mooring system of floating offshore wind power generation systems should be secured. Therefore, technical studies on the floating offshore wind power generation system, which is highly likely to enter the market, are necessary, and it is necessary to set a goal for CAPEX to converge on around 40 [100 million won/㎿]. In addition, the plan to create a large-scale 'East Sea Floating Offshore Wind Power Generation Demonstration Complex' for 200MW or more being promoted by the government of Ulsan Metropolitan City will enable the discharge of high-quality specialized manpower for the operation of floating offshore wind power generation complexes. The commercialization of floating offshore wind power generation systems is expected to create jobs (7,000 in case 200MW is installed and 35,000 in case 1GW is installed) and expand the market for floating offshore wind power generation. It will contribute to the revitalization of the local economy by developing business models linked with the regions, provide a way out to shipbuilding and marine industries, especially in the regions with stagnant employment crisis throughout the country to support their recovery, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions according to the New Climate Regime.
