The dedifferentiation and rearrangement of pancreatic beta cells by streptozotocin was investigated in the C57BL/6J mice. The C57BL/6J female mice were ovariectomized (OVX) to make menopausal model at five-weeks-old. Type 2 diabetes groups were induced by multi-intraperitoneal injection of 40 mg/kg of STZ for consecutively five days at eight-weeks-old. The control mice were divided into three groups M-con, F-con, and FOVX-con. The STZ-treated mice were divided into three groups M-STZ, F-STZ, and FOVX-STZ. Fasting blood glucose in STZ groups was significantly higher than control groups during experiment periods. In addition, Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) was significantly higher than control groups at 8 weeks after STZ treatment.
