The death penalty is maintained as a system. However, it has been internationally classified as a "substantial abolition" country by not executing the death penalty since 1997. Under these circumstances, discussions on the death penalty continue to take place, including legislation on punishment that could replace the death penalty.
Public opinion arises about the execution of the death penalty whenever a violent incident occurs or a related issue appears, As such, the death penalty is an issue of interest not only among academics but also among the general public.
There are a number of legal and philosophical arguments related to the death penalty. Yet research on the death penalty itself is extremely scarce. Despite a number of academic discussions related to the death penalty, empirical data on the death penalty are very scarce.
This study aims to describe the daily lives and thoughts of death row inmates.
As part of the life in the facilities of death row inmates, we drew the daily life of the weekday, the conditions of acceptance, relationships, wishes, and prison time, and statements of fear, religion, victim mentality and anxiety about the death penalty among their psychological characteristics.
