Quinoidal compounds have attracted great attention in organic electronics such as organic field-effect transistors, thermoelectrics and organic spintronics. They possess a highly planar structure due to a double bond linkage between each ring, and have interesting and unique features such as low band-gap, redox amphoterism and spin-induced magnetic activity.
