The bioelectrochemical system is recognized for its potential as a useful future environmental-energy techno-logy in terms of sustainable wastewater treatment and green energy production<sup>1,2)</sup>. Though the bioelectrochemical technology has rapidly developed over the past 20 years, until now, the scale-up of the bioelectrochemical system to the level of industrial application in the real world has not been achieved. The problems in bioelectrochemical degradation such as voltage reversal phenomenon and power overshoot should be overcome in order to achieve a proven level of wastewater treatment efficiency and power generation<sup>3)</sup>.
