Methane is considered as a next generation feedstock due to its cheap price and abundant amount. Methanotroph, which metabolize methane as a carbon source, have been steadily developed as an industrial bio-catalyst. In this study, we produced succinic acid using Methylomonas sp. DH-1. Succinic acid is used in various industries such as cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and food.
Methylomonas sp. DH-1 CA strain was obtained by genetic engineering, where succinate dehydrogenase (sdhB) genes was replaced with glyoxylate shunt genes from E. coli to increase succinic acid production.
