Caenorhabditis elegans is an outstanding model organism in a lot of research fields because of many advantages with short life cycle, transparent body, small size, easy handling in the lab, and so on. Above all, the worm shows specific behavioral responses to various stimuli and has human gene counterparts up to 65%. There are well-organized neural circuits at the basis of these behavioral responses of C. elegans, and these neural circuits can be extended to human gene studies through gene counterparts preserved in humans.
