    Silicon (Si) has beneficial effects on not only plant growth, but also biotic and abiotic stresses. However, a few studies focus on the resistance to powdery mildew by Si application in strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa Duch.). The aim of this work was to find out the optimal method of Si application to enhance resistance to powdery mildew of strawberry daughter plants grown in a hydroponic substrate system. Plants of strawberry ‘Maehyang’ were subjected to one of the four treatments: 0 (control, no treatment), medium drench of 75 mg·L<SUP>‑1</SUP> Si to the mother plant, or foliar spray of 75 mg·L<SUP>‑1</SUP> Si to either mother plant or daughter plant. Shoot fresh and dry weights of the daughter plant significantly increased by either medium drench to the mother plant or foliar spray to the daughter plant. Contents of calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), zinc (Zn), iron (Fe), cupper (Cu), boron (B), and sulfur (S) in the daughter plant increased in the treatment of foliar Si spray to the mother plant.
