The types of soil used for crop cultivation are divided into rice paddy field, uplant field and plastic film house (greenhouse) soil. In South Korea, which belongs to rice-growing countries, there is a stepwise progression in the soil-use types. First, rice is cultivated in paddy fields and these fields are converted into uplant fields for cultivating horticultural crops. Finally, most greenhouses are installed in upland fields. In this study, machine learning algorithms were applied to classify soil-use types based on soil chemical properties.
