Introduction and Background
The aim of this study was to compare the clinical and radiological outcomes between two different plating methods (anterior versus posterior) in extra-articular distal-third diaphyseal humeral fractures.
Material and Method
A retrospective review on a consecutive series of patients with extra-articular distal-third diaphyseal humeral fracture. Twenty-five patients were treated with anterior plating of modified application of PHILOS plate, and 20 were treated with posterior plating of the extra-articular distal humerus plate (EADHP). Patient demographic, fracture configuration, the number of screws in the distal fragment, operation time, and time to union were analyzed. Elbow range of motion, Mayo Elbow Performance Score (MEPS), plate-related symptom, and complications were evaluated at the final follow-up.
Results
The mean time to union was comparable (19.3 weeks in the anterior plating and 18.3 weeks in the posterior plating). Significant difference was found in the mean operation ... 전체 초록 보기
