Introduction and Background
Clinically, there are some patients between recurrent anterior shoulder instability and multidirectional instability. We defined these patients with ambiguous shoulder pain, no history of shoulder instability and shoulder dislocation, and no lesions other than anterior labral lesions on magnetic resonance arthrography as anterior shoulder microinstability. We aimed to evaluate the surgical outcomes of patients with anterior shoulder microinstability, and to compare the results with that of recurrent anterior shoulder instability.
Material and Method
From 2005 to 2018, 31 patients identified as anterior shoulder microinstability (group M) underwent arthroscopic anterior labral repair (A/S ALR) was involved as experimental group. Thirty-one age- and sex-matched patients with recurrent anterior shoulder instability (group R) was established as control group, and also underwent A/S ALR. Preoperative baseline characteristics, pre- and postoperative range-of-motion and functional scores, and postoperative complications were compared between the groups.
