Purpose
Patients presenting complete response(CR) or nearly CR of primary tumor after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy(nCRT) are known to have good prognosis. However, the oncologic outcomes of lymph node metastasis in these patients have rarely been studied. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the oncologic outcomes of the patients with primary region confined within submucosa (yT0-1) after nCRT followed by radical surgery for advanced lower rectal cancer based on the lymph node status.

Method
This is a retrospective consecutive cohort study, 2010-2019 based on database collected and managed prospectively. The study sample included rectal cancer patients with ypT0-1 treated with nCRT and total mesorectal excision(TME). The primary outcome was disease-free survival and the secondary outcomes were overall survival and local recurrence regarding nodal metastasis in yT0-1 rectal cancer patients who underwent nCRT followed by TME.

Result
Among all 338 ypT0-1 patients, 30 had lymph node metastasis. There were 17 in ypT0 and 13 ypT1 patients. 25 patients were in ypN1 and five patients in ypN2 We observed no association with the clinico-pathological characteristics regardi ... 전체 초록 보기
