Background/Aims
Appendectomy is the most common emergent abdominal surgery in worldwide. Laparoscopic appendectomy (LA) has been accepted as the gold standard for acute appendicitis and is now performed more often than open appendectomy. The recently developed single-port technique has further improved this minimally invasive surgery. However, most of the surgery for complicated appendicitis requires drain insertion. Therefore We designed a modified technique to perform an advanced procedure using a new laparoscopic articulating instrument and did not perform single-incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS). In this case, we intended to show how to overcome internal collision and make a good surgical view through a new laparoscopic articulating instrument.
