<Future policies and management plans in the food sector to respond to foot tech applied with new technologies>
Food tech is a new trend that creates new industries or increases the added value of existing industries by combining cutting-edge technologies with food and food industries. Food tech includes recent alternative foods, smart farms, online to offline (O2O) services, and smart kitchens.
Alternative foods may include cultured meat, edible insects, and artificial eggs, and are attracting attention along with the carbon reduction trend. Smart Farm is a technology that maximizes production efficiency and convenience by properly maintaining and managing the growth environment of agricultural, livestock, and fisheries products through ICT-based technology. The O2O service includes a food delivery platform, big data-based restaurant recommendations, and restaurant reservation services, which are already in our daily lives. It is surveyed that the transaction amount increased by more than 6 trillion won in a year due to COVID-19. Smart kitchens include chef robots that use AI and the IoT to state-of-the-art kitchen facilities.
