Rottlerin is a natural polyphenolic compound extracted from Mallotus japonicus. The anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and uncoupling activity of rottlerin have been demonstrated. Nevertheless, the anti-obesity effect is not merged. Our study analyzed the anti-obesity effect of rottlerin. We hypothesized that rottlerin inhibits adipogenesis and de novo lipogenesis through the mTOR signaling pathway in adipocytes.
