Complicated interactions of diverse human experiences have an impact on the formation of one’s God image. Experiential researchers have mainly addressed the complexity of God image in two ways. The first is from a relational-focused perspective: one’s God image is a complex scheme originated from internal representations of important others. The second is from a sociocultural perspective: an individual’s God image is interwoven with multidimensional representations impacted not only by personal relationships but also by social oppression, culture, and language. In this sense, one’s God image is a multi-perspectival cohesion of psychological, social, and cultural representations of the divinity. In Christianity, however, God is more than an inner representation to be projected. God is a reality to be experienced firsthand. In this regard, Christian perspectivalism provides a broader way to understand the complexity of God image. This paper argues that Christian perspectivalism creates an order that honors the authority of God’s perspective while embracing human experiential perspectives of God.
