Metabolic reprogramming is a hallmark of cancers that is known to facilitate cancer progression and development, and is often induced by somatic mutations in a cancer cell. For instance, oncometabolite is generated by gain-of-function mutation in isocitrate dehydrogenase in gliomas, and also by altered glutamate metabolism by KRAS mutation in colorectal cancer. In this study, genome-scale metabolic models (GEMs) are used to systematically characterize somatic mutation-associated metabolic reprogramming in cancers.
