The purpose of this study is to examine the contents of the recent China’s elderly-friendly housing renovation policy and to find the meaning and direction of improvement of the policy. This study jointly analyzed the contents of the policy, economic and physical characteristics of the elderly beneficiary, housing renovation items, and details of the elderly goods items on the acceleration of the elderly housing-friendly renovation project in 2020. The results were as follows : 1) China’s elderly-friendly renovation policy not only optimizes the residential environment of elderly households, breaks down the “obstacles” of elderly households to reduce safety accidents and risks in homes for healthy elderly people, but also improves the quality of life of the elderly. 2) The first phase of the policy will be implemented by 2020 for “elderly, dependent, and disabled” senior-age families among the poor whose family per capita monthly average income is lower than the local minimum economic security standard; In the second phase, among the population who got rid of poverty during the “14.5 Plan” period and the population who received regular living allowances, the target was expanded to “old-age, dependent, and disabled” senior-age families. In the future, we will expand the class dependent type and healthy elderly. 3) The elderly-friendly residential renovation will be carried out from the aspects of construction renovation, facility configuration, and elderly supplies configuration. There are a total of 30 projects in 7 categories, divided into basic projects and optional projects.
