신생아중환자실에서 빈번히 중심정맥관과 관련된 합병증이 발생함에도, 심장압전은 빈도가 낮지만 치명적이다. 그렇기에 생명을 구하기 위해 심장압전을 의심하고 적절히 진단하고 빠른 심낭천자를 하는 것이 매우 중요하다. 우리는 중심정맥관과 관련한 심낭압전이 발생한 두 미숙아를 경험하였다. 첫번째 환아는 33주 5일, 1,864 g으로 출생한 4일된 남아였고, 두번째 환아는 28주 6일, 1,050 g으로 출생한 4일된 여아였다. 각각의 환아는 출생시부터, 그리고 생후 3일 후부터 중심정맥관을 갖고 있었다. 그 환아들의 상태가 갑자기 나빠졌지만, 긴급하게 심장초음파를 시행하고 적절히 심낭천자를 함으로써 성공적으로 상태가 호전되었다.
