This paper explores narratives in English electronic discourse. This study first introduces narrative discourse with a focus on narrative organization and cultural schema. Based on the interactive written discourse known as the Internet Relay Chat (IRC) and Instant Message (IM) among native speakers of English, this study investigates narratives with reference to the narrative co-construction, participation framework, dialogue construction, floor management, and frame shift. Analyzing English narratives in cyber space, this study not only confirms the general characteristics of narrative observed in face-to-face conversation, but also discusses distinctive features of narratives in computer-mediated communication
