Preference and demand for several kinds of apple varieties such as Korean Fuji, American Fuji and American Red Delicious were analyzed. Among Korean residents in America who have experienced in consuming both Korean and the American apples, 200 people were sampled and surveyed to examine their preference for the quality of each variety and the actual state of apple demand. Using multinomial logit model, the degree of preference for each apple was estimated. Demand functions for each apple were also estimated and at the same time, price and income elasticities of demand were derived. The results of this study can be utilized as a basic information for developing import demand model for American apple.
