To examine factors influencing on a long driving shot of golf, the amount of trunk rotation around the body's long axis during the back swing("코일링") and the angle of wrist during back- down swing (so called "코킹") were determined using a 3-dimensional kinematic analysis. The clubhead, which relates closely to the flight distance of the ball, was also determined during simulated driving shot. Thirty-four male golfers were divided into three groups according to HDCP : A: 0-10(n=10), B: 11-25(n=11), and C: 26-36(n=13). The most skilled group Ademonstrated significantly greater values for clubhead speed and the angle of shoulder rotation (θ1) compared with those of less skilled B and C players. The rotation angles of the hip (θ2) and knees( θ3) were not correlated with V. The θ1 of the shoulder was significantly correlated with the net shoulder rotation(θ1-θ2), suggesting a significant contribution for 코일링 of the trunkon clubhead speed. In the wrist angles at the shoulder level (θ4) and at the hip level (θ5) measured during the down-swing, the most skilled group showed a smaller θ5 and change in those two wrist angled (θ4- θ5) compared with the less skilled groups.Clubhead speed was negatively correlated with θ5 and θ4-θ5. From these results, it was suggested that shoulder rotation due to 코일링 of the trunk above the hip and delayed wrist un코킹 may be important factors in producing a long drive with a driving shot.
