This study in dance sports aims to analyze how dance moves changes according to the height of shoes’ heels in Latin dance including Rumba and Cucaracha, and to quantify the efficiency of moves corresponding heel heights, and to provide information of the proper heights of shoes. Among four female dancers’ three trials of Rumba and Cucaracha moves, the best performed move is selected and then analyzed visually and according to counterforce against the surface. Performing moves with 7cm heel shoes shows an appropriate movement with little changes in the center of the body, and there is a significant difference in each factor of change. The angle of ankle joint and knee joint become larger as the heels of shoes get higher. There was no significant difference in each factor. The speed of the pelvis does not affect to the height of heels. The movement of the center of gravity against Phase 3 shows the largest quantity when 7cm heels are worn. It is the result of speedy moves pushing hard on the surface and transferring the center. There was no significant difference in each factor of change. Choosing heel height fit to individual body’s characteristics is more important than wearing too high or low heels. The heel height should be determined by an individual player’s characteristics and muscular strength. In addition, the scientific research through electromyograms (EMGs) is required to prevent player’s injury and to let players perform more accurate moves with suitable heel height.
