<Abstract> Material Culture in Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy : The case of Dague Yangnyungsi Bak, Gyeung―Yong The aim of this article is to investigate the cultural meanings of various material tradition(tools ․ apparatuses ․ everyday lives’ things) concerning of traditional medicine and pharmacy through the roles and rights of each business groups in Dague Yangnyungsi(大邱藥令市, medicinal herb markets). For this, I have carried out anthropological fieldwork method, participant observation and interview, collecting documents etcs.. The major business rights in Dague Yangnyungsi are composed of Hanyakbang(韓藥房), Hanyuiwon(韓醫院), Yakupsa(藥業社), Jetang ․ Jewhanso(劑湯ㆍ製丸所) etcs.. The material culture of traditional medicine and pharmacy have been created and handed down in conduct of refining and regularity(精製), Bupjes(法劑), processing, management, sale of medicinal stuffs, writing a prescriptions and administration of medicine. Besides of these everyday lives’ tools and apparatuses, there have been several symbolic architectures, facilities, streets, physical spaces and concerning documents, life things, photographs comprising historical meanings and for maintenanceㆍpreservation of Yangnyungsi. we must be intention to investigation of contexts and socio―cultural meanings that material aspects of traditional medicine and pharmacy have been concerned with their occupations and everyday lives. That is to say, we will have to aim at research of ‘cultual and social history of things’.
