Analysis of the structure of Lead Tab tape structure which has been currently used was carried out and low temperaturefusion functionalized olefin, the outermost layer, was composed to pp base. To determine if this would possibly be used as outermost layer of Tab tape, adhesion to meal such as copper or aluminum was measured, and adhesive strength was compared with functionalized olefin available at the market. Among PP used for composition, when chlorine was grafted on pp, mean adhesive strength was similar to LT200T available at market and was superior to RE140R and LE320V. When it comes to maximum adhesive strength, it exceeded the maximum adhesive strength of LE200T. When it comers to solvent, Xylene appeared to be better than any others. Substitution of other monomers, conversion of additives or physical method such as Let-down could hardly change the adhesive strength of grafting pp and given the adhesive strength varied significantly depending on type of pp, selection of pp must be important factor in manufacturing functionalized polymer using pp.
