초록· 키워드
Since her debut in 1987, when the bubble economy peaked, and throughout her creative career, Miyabe Miyuki has presented the possibility of a family as a form of community that does not involve blood relatives. Miyabe’s masterpiece, Copy Cat, shows the shape of this “similar family.” Two types of similar families can be seen in this work, which is centered on a boy Shinichi who suffers from the guilt that his careless words led to the death of his family. These families seem clumsy at first—experiencing trial and error in their relationships—but they change and grow as through a series of events. In this work, we can see a form of “relationship” that has a positive effect on the members of these two families. Thus, the “similar family” theme in these works represents a form of community that suggests a possibility of change and growth for those who live in an unstable modern society.
