As fast fashion, where you can buy the latest fashion at low prices, becomes more common, the amount of clothing that consumers throw away is enormous. Recycling, one of the ways to protect the global environment and use it for the sustainability of the fashion industry is not an option but a necessity. Unlike clothes, bags have less direct contact with the body skin, so they have a wider range of materials and less hygiene burden than clothes, which can reduce the cost of cleaning the materials during the production process. In terms of free use of bag materials, creative designs can be attempted, so product development is freer than other items. After the ecology trend of the 1980s that had a theme of returning to nature, the modern fashion trend is actively introducing nature’s motifs, such as naturally recycled clothes, into fashion design. Among clothing waste, denim causes the worst environmental pollution problem. This study aims to evoke the necessity of recycling denim old clothes, and to design bags in consideration of consumers’ longing for nature and the ’individualism’ cultural trend of the MZ generation. By analyzing techniques using previous research and case studies and referring to recycling cases with various materials, this study aims to develop a bag design by using a motif of mushrooms generated using various colors and unique shapes.
