Purpose: In the case of the MoCA test, since the language function is used, there is a drawback that may affect the result of the illiterate person or the educational level is low. The purpose of this study was to verify the usefulness of the test tool by adapting K-MoCA-B (Korean Montreal cognitive assessment basic) to Korean as a screening tool for MCI for elderly Koreans. Methods: This study was conducted with 4 normal elderly women aged 65 years or older and 3 men, a total of 7 subjects residing in Busan. Participants were selected for the GDS (global deterioration scale) 5, the average age was 71 years (±6.14). MoCA-B was adapted to reflect the characteristics of Korean in the English version. K-MoCA-B can assess nine cognitive domains (executive function, language, direction, computation, conceptual thinking, memory, visual perception, attention and concentration). Results: The average total score of K-MoCA-B for the 71-year-old (±6.14) normal elderly who participated in the study was 22.85 (±5.63), and the average test time was 11 (±2.13) minutes. It was confirmed that the score of the normal elderly also fell in all the detailed items except for the mentality. In particular, in the case of the executive function, more than half of the participants reported difficulty in performing the symbol connection test, and in the case of fluency, it was found that the performance ability was poor in the fruit name waiting task. In the case of delayed recall, it was found that performance was significantly lowered by 2.57 points out of 5 points compared to immediate recall. Conclusions: K-MoCA-B can help speech rehabilitation personnel early screen MCI in a wide range of settings and provide access to appropriate supports and interventions for dementia prevention.
