Odern society faced a variety of problems with rapid progress in digital technology that built diverse and complex societies. Consequentially, a need for integrative education was raised as a part of the creative solution to this problem. Under these circumstances, the integrative education has been attempted in various places as children"s education has expanded from public institutions to informal institutions such as museums, libraries and art gallery. In this paper, the case of Making space by a sound, an architectural program of the Gyeonggi-do Children"s Museum, was reviewed.
This program which was developed by an architect combined areas of life with architectural phonetics that study sound in space. In addition, through knowledge and experience acquired in the program, children participating in education were encouraged to develop the ability to creatively solve various problems encountered in everyday life. Not only did they know the knowledge they had learned, but they were able to find its application and meaning in everyday life through a persistent understanding. The program was operated with a focus on understanding the concept of space and sound in week 1 and the correlation between space and sound in week 2.
It faithfully performs the role of the museum as a place of educational practice. A different approach, such as the integration of space and sound, was attempted and tried to revive the properties of the exhibition contentsof the Gyeonggi-do Children"s Museum. Finally, it is meaningful in that it has provided children with ultimately necessary education.
