Although cultured meat restaurants are attracting attention in offering great advantages as a sustainable future food, consumers are still reluctant to visit these types of restaurants. This study collected data from 291 respondents in South Korea. Before the start of the survey, the respondents were provided a video, which made it easier for them to understand cultured meat restaurants. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of perceived risks on image. In addition, this study explored how the image positively affects behavioral intentions, including intention to use and willingness to pay more. Lastly, this study investigated the moderating role of alternative attractiveness in the relationship between image and behavioral intentions. As a result, first, four sub-dimensions of perceived risk had a negative effect on image with the exception of psychological and time-loss risks. Second, image was found to increase intention to use and willingness to pay more. Lastly, alternative attractiveness played an important moderating role in the relationship between image and intention to use. This study is one of the first studies that applied these significant concepts (perceived risk, image, intention to use, willingness to pay more, alternative attractiveness) to the context of cultured meat restaurants. The results of this study will play an important role in the successful management of cultured meat restaurants.
