Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of 2 weeks backward walking exercise on cervical angle and gait parameters in college students with forward head posture. Methods : 15 subjects participated in the experiment. The subjects were those with a craniovertebral angle (CVA) of 55 degrees or less who understood the purpose and method of this study and voluntarily agreed. A camera capable of taking pictures of the lateral plane was installed at a distance of 1.5 meters before exercising. CVA and CRA were measured. Pictures were taken before walking backward, and after 2 weeks. Foot pressure and gait parameters were measured using a rehabilitation treadmill. The backward walking exercise was performed for 2 weeks. The exercise program consisted of a 5-minute warm-up exercise, a 20-minute main exercise and a 5-minute cool-down exercise. In the main exercise, the treadmill speed was set to 2.4 ㎞/h in the first week and 3.4 ㎞/h in the second week. Paried t test was used to compare CVA, craniorotational angle (CRA) and gait parameters before and after exercise. Results : There was a significant difference in CVA and CRA in the comparison before and after the backward walking exercise (p<.05). However, in the gait parameters (step length of left and right, stride length, stance of left and right, swing of left and right, step time of left and right, stride time), there was no significant difference before and after the backward walking exercise (p>.05). Conclusion : Through the results of this study, it was confirmed that there is an effect on CVA and CRA through walking backwards for 2 weeks. However, since it did not affect the gait parameters, this study should be revised to further study.
