In this paper, three topics related to syllables, namely, types of syllable structure, the phonological reality of the skeletal tier, and the position of glides in syllable structures, are examined. The specifics of these three syllable-related themes differ from language to language. Therefore, the syllable structure of Korean, the phonological nature of the skeletal-tier in Korean, and the position of the glide of rising diphthongs in Korean are studied in relation to other languages. It is revealed that the syllable structure of Korean is a trifascicular structure, and that the skeleton of the skeletal-tier in Korean is a phonological unit having a psychological reality for the location of syllables. In addition, it is confirmed that the glide of the rising diphthongs is positioned in the nucleus along with the vowel.
