The objective of this study is to observe media transition aspect of historical detective narratives being produced and consumed through diversified media and analyze transformation of discourse structure being taken place in its transition process in an accommodating perspective. TV drama that is a media of image clearly distinguishes from a novel that is a literary media inevitably in its internal structure or narration method. In case of TV drama, its internal structure and narration method of story are frequently adjusted depending on aesthetic response of the viewers who are its consumers in terms of its features. Therefore, in order to analyze discourse change being taken place in a process of dramatizing a novel, aesthetic response of viewers is definitely required to be considered. Dramatizing process of a novel, "The Painter of Wind" is also not an exception. In this drama, a feature of media was inevitably reflected in its most dramatic form. Being transferred to TV drama, formative frame of an original novel, that is, features of detective narratives was changed and along with this change, stratum of discourse was also transformed. Fictional hypothesis of 'Shin Yun-Bok=female' being presented in a novel, "The Painter of Wind" was utilized as a narrative means for making use of a technique of detective novel called 'narrative trick'. In addition, an equation of 'Shin Yun- Bok=female' being concealed by narrative trick is functionalized as a means of capsizing gender politics based on binary thinking in a stratum of discourse. However, these features of novel are represented as a completely different aspect in a drama. Fictional hypothesis that could provide novel readers with an experience of trying to capsize binary hierarchy was degenerated as a means of satisfying masculine desire of viewers. The reason of this is that in case of drama in which elements of thrill and suspense rather than detective elements are forced to be emphasized in terms of its medium features, it was unable to break away from binary opposition structure being engraved in the mind of viewers. This gap being detected in novel and drama provides very important implication in confirming possibility of narration for historical detective story and fiction.
