The purpose of this study is to contribute to the creation of performance in dance field by understanding the effects of communication on major adaptation and major adherence intention of dance majors in the field of dance major after recognizing that the major adaptation of dance majors is an important element for the creation of performance in dance field. For this, this study utilized total 196 survey questionnaires from the university students majoring in dance residing in Seoul-si, Gyeonggi-do, and Chungcheong-do, for final analysis. The regression analysis was conducted for the verification of hypotheses, and as a result, the conclusions were obtained as follows.
First, the communication between university student majoring in dance and instructor had partial effects on major adaptation. The receptive attitude between university student majoring in dance and instructor had positive effects on instructor adaptation, colleague adaptation, and major learning adaptation. The non-receptive & directive attitude between university student majoring in dance and instructor had negative effects on instructor adaptation while it had no significant effects on the rest colleague adaptation and major learning adaptation. Second, the communication between university student majoring in dance and instructor had partially positive effects on major adherence intention. Especially, among the communication, the receptive attitude between university student majoring in dance and instructor had positive effects on major adherence intention while the non-receptive & directive attitude had no significant effects on major adherence intention. Third, the major adaptation of university students majoring in dance had partially positive effects on major adherence intention. Especially, the instructor adaptation and major learning adaptation had positive effects on major adherence intention of university students majoring in dance while the colleague adaptation had no significant effects on major adherence intention.
