This paper aims to investigate the factors to be considered when recreating abandoned but historically significant architecture as a complex cultural space in the way of regeneration. As a methodological approach, 1) this paper analysed the characteristics of regenerative architecture and the program of complex cultural spaces; 2) using this framework, case studies are conducted targeting three representative complex cultural spaces created through a regeneration project, and; 3) conclusion is drawn from the analysis results identified from the case studies. As a result, this paper found significant elements of complex cultural space through regeneration, temporality, symbolism, variability, and interactivity. In this way, the regenerative complex cultural space will become a place where people can gather to vitalise the local community and preserve the historical architecture itself. The results of this study can be used as a fundamental resource for planning elements and program planning of complex cultural spaces through regeneration to be created in the future.
