The interior construction industry has grown and developed along with the construction industry with a history of more than 40 years since it established its foundation as a specialized field, but there is still no institutional or legal basis to establish itself as a specialized field within the construction industry. Therefore, this study identifies the current status of the construction industry and interior architecture industry and the characteristics of the interior architecture industry in the construction project management process, and based on this, identifies the current status and needs of interior architecture experts. Through this study, the importance of the interior designer"s role and the need to prepare an institutional foundation were found to be very urgent. The scope of responsibility and role as a practical expert, such as preparation of standard for interior design work, selection and inspection of interior finishing materials for safety of space users and efficient construction project management, supervision of construction management according to interior design specifications, etc.
